EVERYTHING
There's some new Food Network spinoff. Looks like a graveyard for dessicated FN shows, Emeril Live, Sara Moulton, Mario etc. But there was this promo ad for the spinoff and there's this sort of effete Truman Capote type drawling about how his mother loved food and cooking and never measured anything yada yada yada. And then he says, not just eating and cooking, and I'm thinking here it comes, finally and I'm thinking he's going to say something like, the event or what happened "amongst" the food, why we remember those times and the food and how that cork was mangled by a drunken uncle and the turkey legs were bloody but the stuffing was perfect and what it means to have perfect stuffing and how all the sounds of that Thanksgiving are in amber because of the memory of that stuffing and of course the effete Capote says nothing like this. Not even remotely.
So yes absolutely take this as a quick note DEAR READER that A la Broche is about the "amongst" and "the event" and "the memory" more so than it is the cooking and the eating. Moreso even now as I have no camera. There's nothing to cook that I haven't or want to. Maybe pate or daube or watermelon pickles.... But that seems out of place now. Let's get into the "amongst" and "the event" and "the memory," even if Food Network isn't concerned with it. These are the things that make us human and bind us and lead us back to recipes that go beyond ingredients and become an action one can perform without eyes or hands or ears. It's something special and maybe even a little difficult to understand. But so is describing what a bite of egg salad tastes like when its eaten outside when the dogwoods are in bloom and the air is alive and yellow and green with pollen.

I'm not callin' it a "comeback," but it's damn nice to see a few posts from ya. Keep up the good work.
Damn son, this is good.
Preach it, Brother Stew.
Brenton C you just need to shut your trap and get us a hog hunting weekend together before law school makes you odd in the head.
